Menya Jiro - Financial District, NYC Serving tonkotsu ramen from Kagoshima. Their ramen won the NYC ramen contest in 2016 and 2017. This tonkotsu is not as heavy as the Hakata Tonkotsu but has its own excellent flavor. This location is more like cafeteria style, located within a bento shop so I assume it is very crowded for lunch. Totto Ramen - Midtown West, NYC Serving Chicken Paitan Ramen. Currently 3 branches in NYC, one of more the popular ramen shops. Usually a line during peak times. I usually go to the one in Hell's Kitchen. The Paitan soup is thick, basic ramen comes with chashu, nori, scallions, onions, and kikurage. You have a choice of Pork or Chicken chashu.
