Just a reminder to all ramen fans! Pork bone broth is "TONKOTSU", NOT "TONKATSU". TonkAtsu is breaded deep fried port cutlet, not pork bone broth!!
Hint: If a server says Tonkatsu Ramen at a restaurant, don't expect authentic ramen. Ton = Pork🐷, kotsu = Bone🍖

Bassanova Ramen - Chinatown, NYC

Bassanova Ramen - Chinatown, NYC🇺🇸
バサノバ - ニューヨークチャイナタウン

Located in Manhattan's Chinatown, Bassanova Ramen is a branch of a popular Tokyo ramen shop.  They are famous for their green curry ramen. Today I tried the Lemon & Black Pepper Tondaku Ramen. It's a pork tonkotsu broth, not sure how tondaku is made but it is pork based. It had black peppers, 4 slices of lemon , 2 pieces chasu, kikurage, sesame, some fried onions and scallions. The thin noodles are made by Sun Noodle. Overall different from other shops.
Restaurant is located in Chinatown in half basement so you may miss it if you aren't paying attention.

They are CASH ONLY.

Tonchin - Midtown West, NYC🇺🇸

屯ちん - ミッドタウンウエスト、ニューヨーク

12/20/2017 Update

I went back to Tonchin tonight to try the Smoked Dashi Ramen since I love fish based ramen. It was a pork and fish (smoked fish oil) soup with clams, half ajitama (marinated egg), mizuna (water greens), memma, and of course home made noodles. Pork broth is excellent, and the fish based ramen fans can enjoy the addition of smoked fish dashi and the clams. The soup was souperb! Souper! Noodles were good just like the last visit, cooked nice and excellent match with soup.

Now open 12 - 2:30pm and 5:30-10pm weekdays, 12 - 2:30pm and 5:30-9pm Sat & Sun.

Smoked Dashi Ramen

Serving Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen. Ramen shop chain from Tokyo just opened (Nov 2017) in NYC. They prepare everything in-house, including their noodles. Soup is tonkotsu broth, creamy and smooth. Noodles are homemade medium wavy noodles. Toppings are thin sliced chashu, memma, nori, half ajitama, and scallion. They also have spicy tan tan, pork and smoked fish broth, and vegan ramens.
Interior is small but modern, long bar counter with tables in the back of the restaurant.
They just opened and have temporary business hours of 6pm - 9pm.
Price is high, for ramen and beer, but excellent quality ramen.

Jika Seimen Ito - Akita, Japan

Jika Seimen Ito - Akita, Japan 自家製麺 伊藤 秋田県/角舘🇯🇵

Posting a ramen shop I've visited in Japan in the past.
This is the original Ito in Akita Prefecture in Japan.  There are several Ito ramen shops in Tokyo now and is Michelin rated.
Offering Shoyu ramen with niboshi (dried baby sardine) based broth.  They keep it very simple, with just shina soba and shina soba with chashu.

They have shops in Ginza, Akabane and Asakusa in Tokyo.  Worth a try if you are in Tokyo!

Noodle is home made, cooked firm.  I got the large portion and noodle portion was more than the soup.  The niboshi shoyu soup was excellent, I just couldn't stop stuffing my mouth with the firm noodles. Sometimes simple is best.

There are no signs and looks like a regular house with Japanese flags 🇯🇵. so a little hard to find.  Look for the flags if you are going.

Ticket machine, simple with small, medium and large for the 2 ramens they offer.

Chopsticks on the counter.  That's not a ghost in the background, that's my son hangry and waiting for ramen.

Zurutto Ramen & Gyoza Bar - Upper West Side, NYC

Zurutto Ramen & Gyoza Bar - Upper West Side, NYC🇺🇸

Ramen shop serving chicken based (tori paitan) ramen located in Upper Westside, Manhattan.  I went when it first opened in April 2016 and this was the second time.  First time I tried their miso ramen, and today the Zurutto Chicken (Paitan) Ramen.  Very good chicken paitan broth, served with thin noodles cooked just right.  Came with 2 thick chashu, memma, half soft boiled egg, onion and scallion ($12).  They offer different chicken paitan based ramen (see menu below) so I will go back to try the others!

They have happy hour special Sapporo draft + Tori Karaage (3 pieces) for $5 which was nice too.  I wanted to try their gyoza but had to go with the happy hour special (2 of them LOL).  Good ramen for a snowy NY day.
