Just a reminder to all ramen fans! Pork bone broth is "TONKOTSU", NOT "TONKATSU". TonkAtsu is breaded deep fried port cutlet, not pork bone broth!!
Hint: If a server says Tonkatsu Ramen at a restaurant, don't expect authentic ramen. Ton = Pork🐷, kotsu = Bone🍖

Ramen Ishida - Lower East Side, NY🇺🇸

Small ramen shop located in Lower East Side, NYC.
Specializing in original Vegan ramens using local organic vegetables but also offer excellent shoyu ramen as well.
I had the Tokyo Style Shoyu Ramen!! (I like the good old shoyu, so I didn't get the vegan ones😁) I had this when they first opened and was really good back then.  They only served it in a takeout paper bowl back then which I wasn't a fan of. Now that they serve in a real ramen bowl, so much better!!
Thin noodles, matches really well with shoyu soup.
Comes with pork chashu (really good), chicken breast (underneath the pork), memma, half egg, truffle paste, and shiso (perilla leaf).

Very small shop with 9 counter seats. Good for take outs if you live in the area!! Definitely a must try.

On Ludlow St. right off of Delancey.

There are several ramen shops around here in the LES, but this place is a must try!

  2. Thanks for your comment! It's all about the soup and noodle balance, but generally the Tokyo style shoyu ramen comes with thin or medium thin noodles. There are other style shoyu, like the Kitakata style (see past post for Kitakata Ramen Ban Nai) which have medium thick noodles which match very well.
